I recently Hired a guide when in Texas. I was surprised how he handle us as clients. I took my future son in law with me. The guide was very familiar with the lake and took us to some nice holes. A cold front came through and fishing was tough. At the first hole the guide started fishing right from the start with out giving us much info on the spot. He fished as if we were competitors in the boat rather than clients and was back seating us. He caught a nice 7 lb fish out of a brush pile and asked us if we wanted a picture of it. At that point I told him we were there to catch fish not watch him- my point was made. He did continue to fish all day, which was then not a problem and started to give us better boat position to work the areas.
When You hire VT Lake Region Fishing Service, we normally do not fish unless the client requests that we do. You are on the water to catch fish. We will fish to instruct and/ or to show you how to present different lures and baits or if conditions changed and we need to locate fish. The day on the water is for you. We do our homework before hand and try to eliminate areas that are not holding fish. Conditions may dictate changes in patterns so we are always on point to adjust and find you fish.

November trips on Champlain were quite productive for smallies. Expect to deal with some wind and rough water. A sea anchor was used a lot to slow drifts. Smallies were bunched up on humps and points, typical places you would expect to find them, however not all humps or points were holding fish. Tubes and jigs produded best. Banged a few on lipless cranks. Fish were holding in 18 to 25 feet. best action was late morning with low light conditions (cloudy) and a slight chop on the water.

Lake Hortonia Report
Late October; plenty of rain brought the lake level up by 3 inches and dropped the water temp by 3 degrees; thus the bite slowed downed, the bass and pike were suspended in the water column along the deeper edges.
Deep diving crankbaits fished slowly produced, the bite was soft but noticeable. Bottom baits were not producing nor were spinner baits.

The pike have started to move into the 10 foot range and are hitting jigs and creature baits. Crank baits that run 8 feet are producing on the outside edge of the weedbeds.
Largemouth bass are looking very plump from feeding on bait fish. Jig and pig & creature baits fished between and around weed clumps have been producing. Crank baits- shad color has been producing in 12 to 15 feet.
